There are high-gain antennas available that may improve the link budget. But directive antennas should be avoided, as they may not work well for making alternate connections (redundant connection) in situations where the primary connection should fail. High gain antennas should be omni-directional. Collinear antennas may be an option, as they provide same performance in all directions.
