A few of these features worth mentioning include:
- Adaptive Frequency Agility which allows for high-throughput networking with minimal packet loss by taking the allowed duty cycle in Europe from 1% to 40%.
- Time-synchronization which supports the management of exact start and stop times for certain events.
- Time-Synchronized channel hopping which was designed to make a mesh with less packet collision and higher reliability (99.99% reliability).
- Multicast for remote configuration management. Additionally, in a large network of thousands of streetlights, multicast makes it possible to create dynamic groups of streetlights in specific areas of a city, making maintenance and management of the network much easier.
- Local Multicast, which is similar to multicast, but it only reaches street light poles registered as the first neighbour allowing for less network traffic, less latency, and less network flooding.
- Symmetric 2-way communication for over-the-air updates making it possible to add new sensors/controllers to the already deployed network and broadcast messages of new schedules efficiently.
- Long range of up to 700 meters between each street light pole and a coverage of 40 x 40 kilometres squared with 28 mesh hops supported.
- Possibility to have up to 1000 streetlights in a single network.
- Radiocrafts’ ICI Framework, which is embedded in the module and allows you to directly interface to virtually any sensor/actuator, such as a motion sensor, GPS, dim control sensors, and more, removing the need for external circuitry.
- Mist computing to reduce bandwidth requirements and for fast responses to local events such as updating the brightness of light bulbs in a specific area of the city.
