But a starting point is to consider the amount of data to be transferred, if battery operation is required, and what the typical range from a sensor to the data collector. Wireless M-Bus is a robust proven standard for low data-rate appliactions. For higher data rates, the general RC232 and Tinymesh modules can be considered.
