Radiocrafts launches ZigBee® PRO Network Module

Radiocrafts AS, a leading provider of compact RF modules, now expand their product line with a compact ZigBee PRO Network Module (ZNM) for use in ZigBee based mesh networks. The ZNM module offers the complete ZigBee PRO network protocol in a small module with an easy to use API interface. By using the new ZNM module, ZigBee applications can be built with minimum effort,  reducing time to market.
ZigBee is a standard for monitoring and control applications using low power radio networking. The standard is becoming increasingly popular as a basis for wireless mesh networks. The new wireless module is targeting applications like industrial sensor networks, building automation and home automation systems. This is the smallest all-embedded module designed for ZigBee offered in the market, also available in a high power version for extended range.

Radiocrafts announces patent pending technology for Wireless M-Bus

Radiocrafts AS, a leading provider of Wireless M-Bus solutions for use in AMR and Smart
Metering, announces patent pending technology used in their Wireless M-Bus module solutions.
Their module portfolio includes solutions compliant with the Dutch Smart Metering
Requirements (DSMR / NTA 8130), and the Open Metering System specification (OMS)
initiated in Germany. Radiocrafts is actively participating in the standardisation work of OMS,
and in the CEN Technical Committee 294 reworking the EN 13757 (M-Bus).
Radiocrafts has developed an extensive range of intellectual property (IP) related to their
products. Several of the unique features and methods used in the implementation of the
Wireless M-Bus modules are being patented. Radiocrafts also offer their Wireless M-Bus IP for
licensing to customers implementing and deploying large scale Automatic Meter Reading
systems.

Radiocrafts launches a new generation ultra small, low cost, high performance IEEE 802.15.4 modules at 2.4 GHz

Radiocrafts AS now expands their product line with two new modules, the low cost RC2400 and RC2400HP. These are IEEE 802.15.4 modules designed for ZigBee® PRO, 6LoWPAN and other protocols based on IEEE 802.15.4. A ZigBee PRO compliant stack is available free of charge.
Typical applications include Smart Meter Reading (AMR, AMI, Smart Grid), Building Automation, Health Care, and wireless sensor networks/M2M. Operation at the 2.45 GHz licence free band enables world-wide usage.
The module is a complete RF system solution including a high performance multi-channel
DSSS radio transceiver and a packet protocol handler. The internal microcontroller holds up to
256 kB Flash memory and 8 kB of RAM making room for an advanced application, including a
ZigBee Smart Energy (SE) compliant solution. The RC2400HP also includes a range extension
LNA and Power Amplifier with 100 mW output power and this can give up to 8 times the range
compared to RC2400 in line of sight.

Radiocrafts launches low cost, high performance ISM band RF modules at 2.4 GHz

Radiocrafts AS, a leading provider of compact RF modules, now expand their product line with
two new modules, the low cost RC2500-RC232 and RC2500HP-RC232. These are multichannel
RF transceivers with embedded protocol. RC2500 is below USD 10 in volume.
RC2500HP includes a range extension LNA and 100mW PA. The new modules have numerous
applications in M2M communication, sensor and control networks.

The module is a complete RF system solution including a high performance multi-channel FSK
radio transceiver and a packet protocol handler, with an easy-to-use UART interface. The
embedded RC232™ protocol provides a point-to-multipoint solution with individual addressing
or broadcast, and CRC check for signal integrity. The module can also be used as a wireless
RS232 / RS485 cable replacement.

Radiocrafts and Smarteq Wireless demonstrate an impressive 1.5 km range for Wireless M-Bus AMR systems

Radiocrafts and Smarteq Wireless have demonstrated over 1.5 km range from a utility
meter to a gateway in a Wireless M-Bus system using state-of-the-art antennas and RF
modules. The system is compliant to the new Open Metering System (OMS) specification
and NTA 8130 / DSMR.
The Wireless M-Bus standard (EN 13757-4:2005) is used for the communication between
electricity, gas, water and heat meters and a Multi Utility Communication (MUC) controller
(concentrator). Long radio range is important to make a reliable and cost efficient system,
reducing the number of MUCs required to cover a large geographical area.
By combining the leading RF performance of the recently released RC1180-MBUS3 radio
module from Radiocrafts with high performance antennas commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) from Smarteq, a Line-of-Sight range of 1.5 km was achieved for Wireless M-Bus T1 mode. The
slightly directive high-efficiency antennas are excellent for wall-mounted utility meters, where
the peak radiation (or reception) can be pointed in the most effective direction.

Radiocrafts launches world’s first OMS compliant Wireless M-Bus RF module for Smart Meters

Radiocrafts AS now expands their product line with a new firmware feature set (MBUS3) complying with the OMS (Open Metering System) specification. The new firmware runs on the industry leading Wireless M-Bus module (RC1180- MBUS) for use in Automatic Metering Reading (AMR) applications. This is the first allembedded module solution compliant with the new OMS specification available in the market, and comes in addition to the well established NTA 8130 compliant feature set (MBUS2).

The OMS primary communication interface is based on the Wireless M-Bus standard (EN 13757-4:2005) and specifies the communication between a Multi Utility Communication (MUC)
controller or gateway, and electricity, gas, water and heat meters. The specification is becoming widely accepted in Europe as a basis for new Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) installations. Radiocrafts has participated in the development of the new specification together with leading meter  manufacturers and other communication technology providers in Europe.

Radiocrafts launches new low cost high power RF module for the 868 MHz ISM band

Radiocrafts AS now expand the RC232 product line family with a completely new high power module, the RC1180HP-RC232. The module is pin compatible with the existing RC11xx-series, and enables extended range using the same low-cost design philosophy applicable for the whole RC11xx product family.
The RC1180HP-RC232 (868 MHz) module is certified for operation up to 500 mW under the European radio regulations for license-free use. When used with quarter-wave antennas a line-of-sight range of over 3 km can be achieved.
The compact RC1180HP-RC232 module, measuring only 12.7 x 25.4 x 3.3 mm, sets a new standard of integrating high power technology into a complete RF modem in one single tiny package, replacing tens of components compared to a discrete design. No external components are required, except an antenna. The modules are delivered on tape and reel for efficient volume production.

This is a multi-channel RF transceiver with embedded protocol, breaking the USD 10 limit in volume. The series includes models for use in the license free ISM bands at 433, 868 and 915 MHz.
