The range depends on the mode and frequency, and of course the environment where the radio is used. In general low frequency and low data rate gives the longest range. Hence mode N at 169 MHz provides the best range. Line of sight communication range can be more than 5 km. Deployments in urban environment achieve typically 1-2 km. Mode S, T and C at 868 MHz can reach few hundred meters LOS, and typically 50-100 meters in buildings. At 433 MHz the range will be somewhat longer due to the lower frequency.
